Tennis

Tennis is a racket sport that can be played individually against a single opponent (singles) or between two teams of two players each (doubles). Players use a strung racket to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over a net into the opponent’s court. The objective is to score points by landing the ball in the designated areas of the opponent’s court in such a way that they cannot return it successfully. The game is played on various surfaces including grass, clay, and hard courts. Tennis is governed by a set of rules established by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and includes major competitions such as the Grand Slam tournaments: the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open. The sport emphasizes skill, strategy, and physical fitness, and has a global following with professional players celebrated for their athletic prowess.
