Pregnancy

Pregnancy is the physiological condition in which a woman carries a developing embryo or fetus within her uterus. It typically occurs following fertilization of an egg by sperm, leading to the formation of a zygote that implants itself in the uterine lining. Pregnancy is characterized by various physical and hormonal changes in the body, which support the growth and development of the fetus over the course of approximately nine months, known as gestation. This period is divided into three trimesters, each marked by different developmental milestones for the fetus and distinct changes in the mother’s body. Pregnancy is a critical phase in reproduction and can influence various aspects of a woman’s health and well-being. It culminates in childbirth, where the baby is delivered through vaginal birth or cesarean section.
